#5: Why Geocities sucks ass.

Scant weeks from the time of this writting Geocities and Yahoo joined forces into one super network. Out of this joining came a lot of confusion on my part. What? I asked, They've joined in holly matrimony? These cooperate mergers are going to far.

Little did I know.

Scant hours before the time of this writing my friend Mark Tannacore sent me this article taken from Yahoo/Geocities new user agreement. Go and read it now, little lambs. I'll be here when you're done.

Finished? Good. Even if you couldn't hacksaw your way through the legalese a handy translation is provided below. Basically it says that Yahoo/Geocities owns everything on their server and can do with it as they please. This not only violates several copyright laws, but it also violates the original user agreement I accepted when I joined Geocities in January.

Hypocrites.

I wont call for you to boycott GeoYahoo or anything, I'm not that fanatical. I mean, communism could work, if it weren't for the fact that money grubbing, paranoid bungholes always seam to be communism's big leaders.

On second thought, maybe you should boycott Yacities. Or, at the very least, remove all files that you may have uploaded there. Geocities can not rightfully do this, but if enough of us tell them that, maybe they'll start to listen.

Until then, I'd like to extend a hearty "fuck you" to Geohoo. What I write may be crap, but its my crap!
